Ok, so not everyone will know this but today is the most important day of the year. Why? Because it’s Dorothy Joanna Ford’s birthday/birth-week/birth-month.
Dolly aka Aunt Doc aka Dotty is (most of the time) my best friend. When I say this I don’t say it lightly; we’ve lived together once, she’s been my boss twice and we’ve worked together in 3 different jobs. Dot is one of those friends who I can go months without speaking to, then pick up where we left off as soon as we see each other. She knows my whole family and is an honorary Sheppard sister.
When my dad passed just over 4 years ago, I asked her (on that same day) if she would read the eulogy for me at his funeral, and she agreed without hesitation. On the actual day, we didn’t realise quite how many people would be there and the fact I can say she stood up in front of everyone (including her dad, who the hell invited him?) and read those words meant the absolute world to me and my family. And I don’t think I’ve ever properly said thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I will be eternally grateful for what you did for me.
So Dotty, this post is for you, I love you so much that sometimes I hate you, but isn’t that what happens with sisters? Even with all the miles between us, you’ll always be my number 1. Happy birthday you absolute diva 💁♀️. Can’t wait for you to get your arse on a plane and come see me 🌍 ✈️
Love you bye xxx
Many thanks and kind regards
